Create the WebCenter domain

In order to create a new domain, we need to run the configuration tool from weblogic. This can be found in the commons directory of the WLS:
<midleware home>\wlserver_10.3\common\bin

Execute config.exe

In the first screen select the Create a new WebLogic domain and press Next

In the next screen we need to provide the components we want to install in our domain.

Select following components:

  • Oracle Webcenter Spaces
  • Oracle Portlet Producers
  • Oracle WebCenter Discussion Server
  • Oracle WebCenter Activity Graph Engines
  • Oracle WebCenter Personalization
  • Oracle WebCenter Pagelet Producer

This will create a full blown domain with all the features of Webcenter. If you don't plan on testing or using some features, than by all means, don't select them in your domain.

Press the next button.

In the next step you need to provide a name for your domain and the directory for the domain

Now it's time to provide the name for the admin user and a password.

Press Next

Make sure Development Mode is selected in the list on the left and provide an installed JDK:

Press Next

In the next step you need to configure the JDBC connections. You can modify all the schemas together by checking the checkbox right to each schema. Because we have used a single password for all the schemas, this step is easy:

Press Next.

All the connections will be checked to see if they are correct and meet the requirements:

If everything went well, all the test should be successful and you can press the next button.

We are not going to modify anything else on the domain so just press next in the Select Optional configuration screen.

In the next screen press the Create button in order to create the domain. After some moments your WebCenter domain should be ready.

Press the done button to close the wizard.

Your domain is now ready to be used.

Next section: Start the WeCenter domain

hey,
i tried to install webcenter on 64 bit os with 64 bit jdk.
during webcenter installation i faced 3 error filegroup1.jar ,filregroup2.jar,filregrou3.jar not found and i pressed continue.

when i ran config.cmd for configuration , it did not showed up webcenter spaces , discussion adn portlet for configuration.it showed up rest.

Hi,

I basically followed everything from your tutorial but when I ran the test connection. I am encountering below error.

Component Schema=ActivitiesDS Schema
Driver=oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521/xe
User=DEV_ACTIVITIES
Password=********
SQL Test=select 1 from schema_version_registry where owner=(select user from dual) and mr_type='ACTIVITIES'

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

CFGFWK-60850: Test Failed!

Did I miss something??

The error says that the username/password you provided is incorrect.
Can you connect to the DEV_ACTIVITIES schema by using SQL*plus or SQL Developer or something?
Did all of the other tests went ok or did they gave the same error?

I also got the "CFGFWK-60850: Test Failed!" error and I verified I had the correct password by logging into the database with it. I took it a step further and noticed that I couldn't get into the particular database it was requesting though. Turns out those users were never assigned to the correct database in my SQL environment. So I quickly gave them the access, reran the tests and all went well.

Hi Geoffrey,

how did you *gave them the access*? can you show me one example?

Thanks!
Larry

I want to access content from content management server in web-center spaces
what is producer for that. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10149/content_doctf.... can u find this link like wise how can i found content management in web-center specs.I installed web center spaces and UCM in Same Domain.

When I get to the Select Domain Source screen and select Oracle Webcenter Spaces - 11.1.1.0[Oracle_WC1], I get:
CFWFWK-64072: One of the following needs to be selected:
Oracle Application Core (StubModel) - 11.1.1.0[oracle_common]
This option is not even listed in the checklist. What am I missing? Shouldn't the core have already been installed?

i have also hit the same problem... any ideas?

Hi,

I have the same error as some other people on this wiki, but I want to know what solution they found for the "CFGFWK-60850: Test Failed!" error. I send you a link to the image of my problem, if it can help: http://postimage.org/image/uqzj54rwx/

Thanks!

when you create the domain, you have to specify the information about the different schema's. Usually the step before the test.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1HRXkme9PDI/TUReiK7df6I/AAAAAAAAAMg/62bzOQE8UcQ/in...
This step. Did you specify all the correct parameters? orcl.localdomain does not seem a valid service name and hostname for your database. You sure it is correct?

I created the domain following the exact steps you did. I first created my RCU with the 'orcl.localdomain' and it worked just fine, but it seems it doesn't work only for this step. Even when I connect my database from JDeveloper, I use the 'orcl' SID and I can access my DB. It is only at this step that it blocks...

I tried with XE, but it didn't work.

I asked a friend of mine who is DBA and he helped me to resolve the problem. If you encounter this kind of problem, the solution is easy:

In your database, type "select mr_type,owner from SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY". Some may be changed, you just have to modify the appropriate schema owner by doing the associations with the MR_TYPE. Use the same password for all the schemas.

Hi Maxime,
hey did u solved the problem by doing associations can u plz tell me d way how ur done to solve the error.
